At Healtherapy we operate a remedial clinic working closely with you to understand your needs to create a treatment plan that is most suitable and effective.
We are trained in specific techniques and continue to expand our knowledge through training and development. Including the requirement to be reassessed every two years to maintain certification. Please see About Us to find out more.
We specialise in the management of lymphoedema (Compression therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), compression garments & self management), the Bowen Technique, Myofascia Release. We also make use of Kinesio Taping, and Low level Light Laser. All these are excellent at managing PAIN and we do not water down our expertise by offering a multitude of complementary therapies.
We have a motto that Less is More. We don’t throw everything at you. Why go deep into the body if a superficial release is all that is needed to generate a deep tissue release. why be rough and cause pain, when gentle will do.
Treatments we offer
Management of Lymphoedema We are fully Vodder trained CDT practitioner, able to treat clients with primary and secondary lymphoedema. Including Multi layer Bandaging and fitting of compression garments. We are also employed by the NHS treating all types of Lymphoedema. Don’t forget lymphoedema does not necessarily have to be a chronic condition. Simple swollen ankles is a mild form and can be treated without the need to use drugs. Do your ankles swell up during the day and go down at night? More than likely you have venous insufficiency, then we can help you.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD); a gentle technique which encourages the natural circulation of the lymph throughout the body. The lymph system depends on peristalsis and the movement of skeletal muscles to squeeze fluid through lymph ducts and vessels.
Not to be confused with Lymphatic Massage. MLD is a medically and Clinically proven technique. The initial lymph system starts 0.40-0.70mm below the skin (The bodies largest organ). Any heavy pressure simple squashes it.
MLD is used as part of the treatment for The Management of Lymphoedema, but is suitable for many other immune system conditions, such as rhumatoid arthritis. It also helpful for stroke recovery and pre and post operation to improve the immune response and reduce swelling. If you suffer from acne then MLD and Low Level Light Laser Therapy are a must.
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into myofascial restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion. Excellent at pelvic balancing and pain relief.
The theory of Myofascial Release requires an understanding of the fascial system (or connective tissue). The fascia is a specialised system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater.
Bowen Therapy; is a remedial body technique that comprises sequences of small gentle movements, each at a specific site on the body. There is no forceful manipulation, just a light cross-fibre manoeuvring of a muscle, tendon or ligament. Bowen is used to treat many different conditions is excellent for neck, back and joint pain, but also many other conditions respond well. Please view our more detailed page on the left
If you suffer from Asthma all I can say is give ‘Bowen a go’. I’ve been amazed by the speed of improvement from patients as young as 13 months to those older clients with chronic asthma and COPD. Please see the feedback page
Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT); For use in the treatment of Lymphoedema, muscular conditions, joint pain and skin conditions including; wounds, psoriasis and acne
We use the state of the art Thor laser systems for pain and inflammation and the FDA approved Riancorp LTU-904 for reduction of lymphoedema.
If you are in PAIN then help is at hand. LLLT is excellent at pain management especially in acute conditions. We recently had a client who after three treatments was pain free. Prior to seeing us she had just had six physiotherapy treatments and five medical acupuncture sessions. (Western acupuncture not traditional acupuncture)
Kinesio Tape We are a Kinesio trained and approved practitioner. Used at the 2008 Olympics, 2009 Wimbledon (Beckham wears pink coloured tape) used for assisting the function of the lymphatic system and to improve muscle strain or muscle weekness recovery.
Because it works on the superficial surface of the body (LESS IS MORE) the more traditional physical practitioners do not use it. The same can be said for Low Level Light Laser. It takes about 40 years for the medical fraternity to acknowledge that a treatment is effective. Research into Low level Light Laser has been around for about forty years, so shortly the medical fraternity is likely to acknowledge its effectiveness.
